The Group Head of Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering (MPCE) has corporate responsibility and accountability for the overall management and leadership of the MPCE Division within the Humber Health Partnership (HHP) Group providing strategic direction and expert leadership.
The MPCE Division encompasses the following services: -
The MPCE Division comprises of approximately 140 engineers, scientists, technicians and support staff.
You will provide management and expert scientific leadership to the MPCE Division, ensure that effective services are provided to the Group, its partners and clients and to develop these services both scientifically and technically in response to changes in clinical workload and practice, equipment development and statutory requirements. You will initiate, undertake and support research and development in the above fields commensurate with the achievement of clinical objectives and in promotion of best international practice.
You will lead the Divisional Triumvirate and Chair the MPCE Divisional Board, to provide assurance (to the Care Group Board) of a well-led, safe, caring, and effective and responsive Division that provides high quality support for the care of patients in the Yorkshire and Humber area. This managerial leadership includes active management of Financial, Governance and HR targets. You will ensure the Divisional services remain fit for purpose against external and internal challenges and influences, such as workforce, economic and legislative drivers by leading on Divisional strategy and supporting operational implementation.

you will:
Provide scientific and strategic leadership to the MPCE Division, directing and managing the variety of services it provides.
Be a Clinical Scientist qualified to Doctoral level or equivalent.
Be subject to appropriate financial and operational governance control, you will have the freedom to structure and deliver the services, provided by MPCE across the HHP Group and its partners, as the post holder considers most effective.
Be the overall lead for the management, organisation and co-ordination of the Division, ensuring that high quality clinical, scientific and technical services are provided.
Provide strategic leadership to ensure that services are developed in response to changes in clinical workload, technological developments, national policies and guidance and provide strategic advice to senior Group management.
initiate, organise and undertake research and development in Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering, as appropriate, in collaboration with external institutions such as universities, national laboratories, industrial partners and other appropriate bodies including international partners.
Contribute to the development of health service scientific policy and scientific and technical training at regional, national and international levels.
Have sufficient experience and expertise to fulfil a high level role as one of the leading Healthcare Scientists within the Humber Health Partnership, coordinating local Healthcare Scientists and contributing to regional healthcare science activities within Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering.
