Are you a strategic and hands-on finance leader ready to take control of financial operations across a £700 million multi-site automotive group? Allen Motor Group is seeking a Financial Controller to partner closely with the CFO and Deputy Finance Director. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping our financial strategy, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency — all while co-leading a 30-person finance function covering Accounts Payable, Receivable, Management Accounting, MI and transactional support based at our Northampton Ford dealership with occasional travel required across the group locations.

Why Allen Motor Group?

• £70,000 – £90,000 OTE (depending on experience)
• Company car (or EV allowance) and fuel card
• Private medical insurance
• Company pension scheme
• Predominantly on-site working for the first 6 months, followed by a flexible hybrid pattern
• Full training and support to develop and progress your career

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

Financial Reporting & Control

• Delivering consolidated monthly management accounts (within WD4) and leading year-end statutory accounts with external consultants

• Managing accounting policies (FRS 102 / IFRS) and overseeing the external audit process

Process & Systems Transformation

• Leading automation initiatives (including AP OCR, close-task workflow, data-lake and Power BI roll-out)

• Championing data governance across ERP/DMS/BI layers

Leadership & Team Development

• Directly managing the Financial Accountant and Purchase Ledger Supervisor, while supporting a 30-strong team in matrix with the Deputy FD

• Setting team KPIs, succession planning, and guiding study-support pathways

Cash, Treasury & Working Capital

• Leading weekly cash forums, managing daily liquidity, and overseeing dealership stocking-loan facilities

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Coordinating the annual budget and reforecast cycles; providing variance and scenario analysis to senior stakeholders

Risk & Internal Controls

• Maintaining and strengthening the internal controls framework and following up on internal audit actions

Continuous Improvement

• Identifying and delivering savings through automation and shared-service options

About You – Essential Experience:

• ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified with 4+ years PQE, including at least 2 years as divisional or group controller in a £500m+ business
• Proven leadership of finance teams (15+ people) and successful finance/BI transformation projects
• Advanced Excel and Power Query skills (SQL knowledge a plus)
