Job summary

Accountancy Action - Your Specialist Finance Recruitment Partner is supporting a high growth business in Watford in search of a technically astute Group Financial Controller for a 6‑month contract, with potential for permanency. Reports to the Finance Director and leads finance to drive performance and transformation.

The role requires ACA/ACCA qualification, 3+ years PQE, and experience managing audits and month-end processes.

Qualifications

• Fully Qualified ACA or ACCA required.
• Minimum of 3 years’ PQE in industry.
• Experience managing audit process including preparation of entity and consolidated statutory accounts.

Responsibilities

• Line management of staff.
• Ensure key monthly information for returns, monthly reporting and KPIs.
• Produce the monthly Board Finance Report for Group and other businesses.
• Provide monthly Group accounts and other schemes within 5 working days with reconciliations.
• Lead annual audits for entities.
• Develop finance transformation initiatives including AI use.
• Prepare business plans, forecasts and board papers.
• Oversee finance aspects of IT systems and related governance.
• Progression oriented, with variety of tasks and decision-making responsibilities.

Job description

We are currently supporting a high growth business based in Watford looking for a technically astute Group Financial Controller to join their team on a 6 month contract. This role will be reporting directly to the Finance Director and an opportunity for permanency.

Key Duties

• Line management of Staff
• Ensure that key monthly information is provided for returns, monthly reporting and KPIs.
• Produce the monthly Board Finance Report for Group and other businesses. Improve on analysis and forecasting currently reported.
• Provide monthly Group accounts and individual accounts for the schemes and other businesses and ventures within 5 working days. Ensure that there are reconciliations and back ups for all balance sheet accounts.
• In charge of annual audits for entities
• Develop finance transformation initiatives including the use of AI within the team
• The job holder will be expected to complete additional tasks such as business plans, project evaluation, forecasts and preparation of board papers.
• The job holder will be responsible for the finance aspects of IT systems by being familiar with the systems and using the expertise in the teams.
