Qualifications

• ACA/ACCA or equivalent qualification required.
• Strong IFRS knowledge and technical accounting experience.
• Experience leading group reporting and year-end audit in a multi-site environment.
• Solid understanding of financial controls, governance and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly and annual group reporting processes with accuracy and timeliness.
• Drive improvements to month-end reporting and embed best practices across finance.
• Own year-end and external audit process, coordinating with auditors and stakeholders.
• Strengthen financial control environment with fit-for-purpose policies and procedures.
• Serve as SM for technical accounting matters, including IFRS and policy development.
• Oversee reporting, controls and governance across multiple business units and international entities.
• Support lender, shareholder and Board reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with operations to improve reporting, processes and systems.
• Lead, develop and mentor a high-performing financial control team.

Job description

Mackie Myers has partnered with a private equity-backed, multi-site healthcare business to appoint a Group Financial Controller.

The Role

Reporting to the Group Finance Director, the Group Financial Controller will take ownership of group reporting, external audit, technical accounting and financial controls across a complex, multi-site organisation.

This is a high-profile role with significant exposure to senior leadership, investors and key external stakeholders. The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with a collaborative approach, ensuring robust financial governance while supporting the wider business as it continues to grow.

Main Duties

• Lead the monthly, quarterly and annual group reporting processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial information.
• Drive improvements to month-end reporting, shortening reporting timelines, enhancing financial insight and embedding best practice processes across the finance function.
• Own the year-end and external audit process, acting as a key contact for auditors and senior stakeholders.
• Drive a strong financial control environment across the business, ensuring policies and procedures are fit for purpose.
• Act as the subject matter expert for technical accounting matters, including IFRS compliance and accounting policy development.
• Oversee reporting, controls and governance across multiple business units and international entities.
• Support lender, shareholder and Board reporting requirements.
• Partner with finance and operational leaders to improve reporting, processes and systems.
• Lead, develop and mentor a high-performing financial control team.

The Successful Candidate

• ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualified accountant.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS.
• Proven experience leading group reporting and year-end audit processes within a complex, multi-site environment.
• Strong understanding of financial controls, governance and risk management.
• Experience operating within a private equity-backed and/or regulated business would be advantageous.
• Ability to build effective relationships with senior stakeholders across the organisation.
• A proactive, hands‑on leadership style with a continuous improvement mindset.
• Systems and finance transformation experience would be beneficial.
