As part of our ongoing growth and development, Hampshire Cricket is now looking to identify a suitably qualified and experienced candidate for the newly created position of Group Financial Controller.
Hampshire’s impressive standing and ambition have been further demonstrated with the recent announcement of a landmark partnership between Hampshire Cricket (Hampshire Sport & Leisure Holdings Limited) and GMR Group, a leading global infrastructure company. GMR Group already holds a 50% stake in the Delhi Capitals (IPL and WPL), Dubai Capitals (ILT20), Pretoria Capitals (SA20), and has an investment in the Seattle Orcas team in Major League Cricket, USA.
Based at the Utilita Bowl in Southampton, the Group Financial Controller will be a key member of the management team. The role involves overseeing the financial management and control of the Group’s diverse operations, which include Men’s and Women’s professional cricket teams, an international cricket stadium, a Hilton hotel, an 18-hole golf course, a Wellbeing Centre, and a charitable foundation.
The main purpose of the role is to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting, implement robust financial controls, and provide strategic financial insights to support the Group’s long-term sustainability and growth. Responsibilities include financial reporting and compliance, budgeting and forecasting, statutory reporting, taxation matters, and redesigning and implementing a suite of meaningful KPIs to contribute to the long-term success of the club and venue.
We are seeking a motivated professional, ideally a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA), with a minimum of two to five years of relevant post-qualification experience. The candidate should have strong knowledge of UK GAAP and relevant financial regulations, proven experience in financial consolidation, financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis. A strong understanding of VAT, PAYE, and corporation tax is essential, and previous experience managing diverse business streams is preferred.
