Job summary

Unknown is seeking a senior Group Financial Controller for a UK PE-backed insurance platform. The role owns the financial control environment, governance, and month-end reporting, interacting with the Group CFO/C‑Suite.

The successful candidate will lead a finance controllership team of ~15 across multiple entities, drive acquisition integration, and oversee tax and treasury as part of the broader finance agenda.

Responsibilities

• Own the Group's financial control environment with robust processes, controls, governance and month-end reporting.
• Lead the financial integration of acquired businesses, including group reporting, systems, processes, controls and policies.
• Lead and develop a finance controllership team of around 15, providing direction and performance management.
• Identify opportunities to standardise, automate and improve finance processes across the Group.
• Provide technical and commercial input into wider finance projects and strategic initiatives.
• Partner with senior finance, operational and business stakeholders to support Group growth.
• Oversee tax and treasury activities alongside core controllership responsibilities.

Group Financial Controller

Business Overview

UK based, PE-backed specialist insurance group with 350,000+ policyholders and multiple operating businesses across insurance broking, underwriting and direct distribution.

The Group has expanded from niche personal lines into commercial and digitally focused insurance, with an active acquisition strategy aimed at significantly increasing the scale of the business over the coming years.

Role Context

This is a senior Group Controllership role within a growing, acquisitive insurance platform. The successful candidate will take ownership of the Group's financial control environment and lead the integration of acquired businesses into the wider finance function.

The role combines hands-on financial controllership, team leadership and acquisition integration, with significant interaction across finance and the wider business.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial control: Own the Group's financial control environment, ensuring robust processes, controls, governance and month-end reporting.

• Acquisition integration: Lead the financial integration of acquired businesses, including group reporting, systems, processes, controls and policies.

• Team leadership: Lead and develop a finance controllership team of c.15, providing direction, coaching and performance management.

• Process improvement: Identify opportunities to standardise, automate and improve finance processes across the Group.

• Technical finance: Provide technical and commercial input into wider finance projects and strategic initiatives.

• Senior stakeholder management: Partner closely with senior finance, operational and business stakeholders to support continued Group growth.

• Tax & treasury: Provide oversight and input across tax and treasury alongside core controllership responsibilities.
