Pear Talent - Finance Recruitment is hiring an Interim Group Financial Controller for a 12-month FTC in London. The role reports to the CFO, leading a finance team of 10–15 and owning all group financial reporting, consolidation, and control with exposure to the Exec/Board and Audit Committee.

The ideal candidate is a qualified accountant with strong FC experience in financial services, capable of shaping a finance change programme and guiding a high-performance team in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Proven Group Financial Controller or FC experience in financial services.
• Interim finance leadership experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead group financial reporting, consolidation and control for IFRS/UK GAAP.
• Own month/quarter/year-end close processes and drive efficiency.
• Prepare papers for CFO, Exec Board and Audit Committee.
• Manage external audit as main point of contact.
• Maintain robust financial controls, policies and judgments.
• Support regulatory reporting and governance with Risk, Compliance and IA.
• Lead a team of ~10 finance professionals, set priorities and standards.
• Collaborate with FP&A, Treasury and Tax to provide financial insight.

Job description

Interim Group Financial Controller – 12-Month FTC

Location: London (Hybrid, 3 days in office)

Pear Talent is representing a leading UK purpose-led financial services group, servicing millions of customers with c£50bn AUM. The group's financial performance is very strong and the business is continuing year-on year growth, with ambitious plans for the next 3-5 years.

This is a critical hire for an Interim Group Financial Controller on a 12-month FTC. You'll report to the CFO, leading a Finance team (x10-15) and own all group financial reporting, consolidation and financial control, with regular visibility to the Exec/Board and Audit Committee. This person will also have a key role in shaping a major Finance change programme.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead group financial reporting, statutory reporting and consolidation across the group's entities, under IFRS and UK GAAP
• Own the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close, and improve quality, timeliness and efficiency
• Prepare and present financial results and papers for the CFO, Executive Board and Audit Committee
• Manage the external audit from planning through to sign-off, as the main point of contact for the audit partner and team
• Keep a robust financial control environment in place, including accounting policies, key judgements and technical accounting positions
• Support regulatory reporting and governance, working with Risk, Compliance and Internal Audit
• Lead, develop and manage a team of around ten finance professionals, setting clear priorities and high standards
• Work closely with FP&A, Treasury, Tax and the wider business to give financial insight and clarity

About you:

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
• Proven Group Financial Controller or Financial Controller experience in financial services
