Group Financial Controller | Warrington | £55,000 - £65,000, 25 days holiday, wide range of discounts and benefits | Business Services and Property

We're looking for an ambitious, experienced and technically strong Group Financial Controller to lead the head office finance function of a successful, growing Business Services and Propertygroup. The group is a privately owned and entrepreneurial SME market leader which has shown strong & resilient performance during recent times, geared to double in turnover in coming years. This is a senior role with significant exposure to the Board and Group senior leadership team, offering the chance to shape processes, enhance reporting, and drive continuous improvement.

The Role

The Group Financial Controller will oversee all aspects of group treasury, payroll, month-end reporting, audit, HMRC compliance, and statutory accounts preparation. Managing a small finance team, you'll ensure timely, accurate reporting while delivering clear insights to support decision-making. You'll also take the lead on technical accounting matters, cashflow forecasting, and board reporting, while driving improvements in systems, processes, and controls.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Preparing monthly management accounts for central cost departments and group-level reporting across this Business Services and Property company
  • Leading month-end close, flash reporting, and Board pack production
  • Managing payroll, CIS returns, VAT submissions, and wider tax compliance
  • Overseeing annual audit, statutory accounts, and corporation tax computations
  • Budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Group treasury management, payment approvals, and intercompany reconciliations
  • Supporting acquisitions, due diligence, and other strategic projects
  • Mentoring and developing the finance team

About You

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) - ideally from a professional practice background
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and exceptional attention to detail
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence senior leaders
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Sage desirable
  • Resilient, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience within facilities management, construction, or related industries is advantageous
  • Comfortable operating in complex group structures and in a growing business environment
