Job summary

Prime Appointments Ltd is seeking a Group Financial Controller in Braintree, Essex for a permanent, full-time position. You will provide strategic financial leadership across the group, setting long-term plans, budgets, forecasts, and governance to support growth.

You will oversee management accounts, cash flow, and reporting, while mentoring the finance team and partnering with senior leadership to drive profitability across nationwide operations.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
• Senior financial leadership experience with budgeting and forecasting.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Financial Leadership & Strategy: Provide financial leadership across the Group, maintaining long-term financial plans, budgets, forecasts, and governance.
• Commercial Insight: Drive profitability through cost reductions, pricing analysis, tender reviews, and contract negotiations.
• Operational Performance: Oversee monthly management accounts, cash flow, and enhance financial systems and reporting.
• Team & Stakeholder Management: Lead and develop the finance team across multiple locations and external stakeholders.

About the Role

An established, highly successful UK-wide company is seeking a commercially focused Group Financial Controller. This is a hands-on, high-impact leadership role working directly alongside the business owner and senior management team.

You will dive deep into operations, bridge the gap between departments, and use financial and operational data to drive change, boost profitability, and steer the future growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Leadership & Strategy: Provide financial leadership across the Group, maintaining long-term financial plans, budgets, forecasts, and strict financial governance.
• Commercial Insight: Drive profitability by identifying cost-reduction efficiencies and supporting commercial decisions via rigorous pricing analysis, tender reviews, and contract negotiations.
• Operational Performance: Oversee the production of monthly management accounts, manage cash flow, and continually enhance financial systems and reporting processes.
• Team & Stakeholder Management: Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team while building strong, collaborative relationships across multiple UK business locations and external stakeholders.

Skills & Attributes Required

• Qualifications: Fully qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent.
• Experience: Proven track record in a senior financial leadership role with heavy experience in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic business partnering.
• Commercial Mindset: Ability to balance strategic goals with operational realities, translating complex financial data into practical business growth recommendations.
• Communication: Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the confidence to constructively challenge decisions and present clear insights to senior leadership.
• Industry Background: A preferred background within the hospitality or leisure industry is highly advantageous, though a naturally curious mindset to understand operations from the ground up is essential.
