Group Finance Accountant

Salary: £60,000 - £80,000

Our client is a leading, diversified specialty insurance and reinsurance company. They are currently seeking a Group Finance Accountant to play a crucial role in supporting the Group Finance Manager in managing the Corporate Accounting Services global process. What you'll do:

As a Group Finance Accountant, your role will be pivotal in supporting the Group Finance Manager in managing the Corporate Accounting Services global process. You will be responsible for centralising and streamlining processes such as foreign exchange, leases, fixed assets, expanding to the management of all group accounting processes. Your attention to detail, proactive approach, adaptability, and strong understanding of US GAAP and SOX compliance will contribute significantly to accurate financial reporting and overall efficiency of the finance function.

  • Contribute to functional strategy development and prioritise operational deliverables and activities of team to support delivery of overall business targets.
  • Manage tactical plan and provide support to others to achieve positive results for the business in line with strategy.
  • Advise and guide others within the team, ensuring accuracy, good practice and adherence to prescribed standards.
  • Interpret organisation goals and regulatory/legislative requirements; proactively review, analyse and suggest how compliance, effectiveness and risk management can be improved.
  • Develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that service delivery meets customer/colleague expectations.
  • Network with relevant colleagues across the organisation to share best practice and identify optimal service delivery options within the function.
What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Group Finance Accountant position will bring a professional accounting qualification (ICAEW, ACA, SAICA CA (SA) or equivalent) along with 3 or more post qualified years of experience. Experience within the general insurance industry, working in Insurance and Reinsurance segments with previous Group Finance experience is preferable. Your proficiency in financial reporting, consolidation, analysis along with your continuous improvement mindset will be key to your success in this role.

  • Strong understanding of US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Accounting qualification (ICAEW, ACA, SAICA CA (SA) or equivalent)
  • Experience within the general insurance industry
  • Understanding of internal controls and risk management practices including SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance requirements.
  • Technical understanding of insurance accounting and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint, and Sharepoint skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good at establishing and maintaining internal and external solid working relationships.
  • Effective at influencing all stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
