Group ESG Reporting Analyst

Location: London or Cape Town

Full time Staff Position

The role will own and manage the ESG Reporting required for the business. This includes data collection, analysis, reporting, and auditing to meet business needs. Responsibilities include preparing sustainability reports, supporting GHG accounting, and potentially leading the company's annual Sustainability Report. The analyst will ensure the quality and consistency of environmental, social, and sustainability metrics across the company.

Main Responsibilities

The focus is on ESG reporting across all operations with key areas including:

  • Data collection, processing, and consolidation for reports like the Shareholder's AMR and Sustainability Report.
  • Optimizing data quality and collection processes to improve efficiency and data integrity.
  • Preparing ESG performance data for reporting to various committees and stakeholders.
  • Defining ESG targets, tracking performance, and reporting progress.
  • Updating impact measurement frameworks based on latest trends and requirements.
  • Monitoring external ESG reporting trends and advising on necessary changes.
  • Supporting initiatives that generate value through ESG reporting.
  • Assisting in ESG systems management and continuous improvements.
  • Handling ESG data audits and assurance processes.
  • Integrating ESG and climate data into financial and risk reporting.

Supporting Climate-Related Reporting:

  • Managing GHG data collection and footprint calculation.
  • Supporting climate disclosures such as TCFD reports.
  • Tracking climate metrics and targets.

Monitoring Operational ESG Performance:

  • Providing data templates for operational reporting.
  • Reviewing and providing feedback on operational reports.
  • Analyzing data trends for management review.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Passion for ESG with strong subject matter knowledge.
  • Analytical mindset with numerical skills.
  • Experience with ESG reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, ISSB, CSRD, CDP, TCFD, TNFD).
  • Understanding of GHG Protocol and other standards.
  • Knowledge of international E&S standards is advantageous.
  • Understanding of ESG challenges in developing countries, especially Africa and the power sector, is a plus.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and problem-solving mindset.
  • Language skills in French and/or Portuguese are a plus.
  • Degree in sustainability, environmental sciences, engineering, or related fields; master's preferred.
  • Relevant experience in ESG, climate change, or sustainability fields.
  • Proficiency with Excel; experience with ESG software or ERPs like IFS is advantageous.
