Job summary

SSE plc is seeking a Group Head of Architecture to lead architecture across SSE at a pivotal transformation moment.

You will set the architecture direction, govern standards and enable confident delivery across businesses, aligning roadmaps with investment priorities and regulatory considerations. A strong track record in enterprise architecture and senior stakeholder leadership is essential.

Qualifications

• Executive-level experience leading architecture in a large, complex, federated organisation.
• Proven ability to translate business strategy into enterprise capabilities, roadmaps and measurable delivery outcomes.
• Broad technical depth across enterprise, solution and technology architecture incl. cloud, infra, networks, apps, platforms.
• Significant transformation, delivery and operational experience ensuring secure, resilient solutions.
• Experience leading matrixed teams and collaborating with CIOs and business leaders.

Responsibilities

• Own SSE's Group-wide architecture direction linking business capabilities, applications, platforms, infrastructure and OT across the Group.
• Set alignment direction for Heads of Architecture across units to roadmaps and investment priorities.
• Oversee governance, standards and guardrails enabling strategy-to-delivery and resilient operation.
• Build trusted relationships with CIOs, business leaders and delivery executives, guiding major technology decisions.
• Modernise architecture with automation, architecture-as-code and AI-assisted analysis.
