Job summary

Mintel is seeking a technically strong Group Accounting Manager to own the Group consolidation, statutory reporting and accounting policy framework. This hands-on role covers an international, multi-entity organisation, coordinating the external audit and driving high-quality reporting across APAC, EMEA and AMER.

You will lead the Group consolidation, provide technical guidance on complex UK GAAP issues, and manage a small team of accountants, ensuring consistent accounting across regions.

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualification.
• 5+ years post-qualification experience.
• Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and FRS 102.
• Significant group consolidation experience in international, multi-entity organisations.
• Experience preparing or reviewing group statutory financial statements.
• Experience managing external audits and timetables.
• Ability to research complex issues and document technical judgements clearly.
• Understanding of intercompany accounting, foreign currency and balance-sheet accounting.
• ERP experience; NetSuite advantageous.
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
• Confident communication with senior Finance colleagues.
• Experience supervising or developing other accountants.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly, quarterly and year-end Group consolidation processes.
• Review consolidated results, intercompany eliminations and foreign currency accounting.
• Lead the preparation of Group statutory financial statements.
• Set Group reporting standards, formats, timetables and submission deadlines.
• Review regional submissions and challenge unusual accounting treatments.
• Provide technical guidance on UK GAAP and FRS 102.
• Maintain Group accounting policies and ensure their consistent application.
• Research significant accounting judgements and document them.
• Lead day-to-day management of the external audit and coordinate regional deliverables.
• Support accounting assessments of acquisitions, disposals, restructurings and other significant transactions.
• Manage, coach and develop the Group Financial Accountant.
• Build relationships with Regional Financial Controllers, external auditors and the Finance leadership team.

It is ideally suited to someone who enjoys solving complex accounting issues, improving reporting quality and setting clear standards across regional Finance teams. It is not an FP&A, commercial finance or business-partnering role.### What you’ll be responsible for* Owning the monthly, quarterly and year-end Group consolidation process* Reviewing consolidated results, Group accounting entries, intercompany eliminations and foreign currency accounting* Leading the preparation of Group statutory financial statements* Setting Group reporting standards, formats, timetables and submission deadlines* Reviewing regional submissions and challenging unusual or insufficiently supported accounting treatments* Providing technical guidance on complex matters under UK GAAP and FRS 102* Maintaining Group accounting policies and ensuring their consistent application* Researching and documenting significant accounting judgements* Leading the day-to-day management of the external audit and coordinating regional deliverables* Supporting the accounting assessment of acquisitions, disposals, restructurings and other significant transactions* Managing, coaching and developing the Group Financial Accountant* Building effective relationships with Regional Financial Controllers, external auditors and the wider Finance leadership team### What we’re looking for* ACA, ACCA or an equivalent accountancy qualification* Ideally five or more years of relevant post-qualification experience* Strong working knowledge of UK GAAP and FRS 102* Significant Group consolidation experience within an international, multi-entity organisation* Experience preparing or reviewing Group statutory financial statements* Strong experience managing external audits, deliverables and timetables* The ability to research complex accounting issues and document technical judgements clearly* A strong understanding of intercompany accounting, foreign currency and balance-sheet accounting* Hands-on ERP experience, with NetSuite particularly advantageous* Excellent organisation and attention to detail* A confident communication style, with the ability to provide direction and constructively challenge senior Finance colleagues* Experience managing, supervising or reviewing the work of other accountants### It would be an advantage if you also have* Knowledge of US GAAP, particularly in a business with significant US operations* Big Four or other major accounting firm experience* Experience of acquisitions, disposals, purchase price allocations or other complex corporate transactions* Experience working in a multinational, multi-currency Group### Why this role?This is an opportunity to take ownership of critical Group accounting processes and shape the quality and consistency of financial reporting across an international organisation.
