Job summary

Mecsia is seeking a Group Accountant on a 12-month FTC to support the GFC and strengthen the group finance function in a fast-growing PE-backed business in London. You will drive consolidation, statutory accounts, and technical accounting across multiple entities, delivering audit-ready reporting and robust control frameworks.

The role requires ACA or equivalent, UK GAAP/IFRS expertise, and a track record in group consolidation, acquisitions, and system implementations.

Qualifications

• Qualified Accountant (ACA or equivalent) with minimum 3 years post qualified experience.
• Excellent knowledge of UKGAAP and IFRS, consolidation and statutory accounting.
• Excellent understanding of processes and controls to implement across the group to enable robust financial reporting.
• Proven ability to deliver monthly consolidated financial reporting packs.
• Able to demonstrate excellent analytical skills and an ability to explain complex requirements and processes to others in a coherent way.
• Results driven with the ability to deliver to tight deadlines in a fast-paced business.
• Experience of working in a group function and ensuring adherence by companies to group policies and processes.
• Experience of the implementation of new accounting systems.
• Experience of working in an acquisitive PE backed business.
• Experience of working in a leveraged environment.
• Experience of working in a multi-site business.
• Understanding and experience of long term contracts and accounting for WIP.

Responsibilities

• Review Head Office monthly management accounts.
• Prepare the Group Consolidation and Consolidated Cashflow, audit-ready and aligned with group standards.
• Ensure intercompany balances and transactions are reconciled across the group.
• Manage month-end close and handover of accounts and cash flows to FP&A.
• Develop new reporting formats and system developments, e.g., Konsolidator and cashflow templates.
• Perform monthly balance sheet reviews and consolidate subsidiaries; challenge accounting treatments.
• Educate and standardize COA and policies across units; include Salary Sacrifice Car Scheme.
• Ensure regulatory submissions (VAT, PAYE, CT, ONS) are completed for HO and entities.
• Support group audit, tax computations, and technical accounting papers for IFRS 16 and acquisitions.
• Drive consolidation of multiple entities and support integration of new acquisitions.
