Job summary

C&M Travel Recruitment is seeking a Group Accountant to join the finance team in London on a hybrid basis for a temporary assignment of around three months.

You will own consolidated accounts, IFRS reporting, and strengthen the financial control environment across an international travel business, working with treasury and external auditors.

You'll need ACA/ACCA/CIMA or qualified by experience, with strong IFRS knowledge, advanced Excel, and experience in multinational settings.

Qualifications

  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to investigate variances and explain financial movements.
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with complex financial data.
  • Attention to detail and understanding of how finance systems impact reporting.
  • Problem-solving skills and proactive approach to improving processes and controls.
  • Experience in a multinational or international organisation.
  • Ability to communicate complex accounting matters to finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Strong organisation skills and ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • Technology-focused mindset and adaptability to new systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 would be advantageous.
  • Previous cruise/maritime travel sector experience beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Support monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated accounts and reporting in line with IFRS.
  • Assist with delivery of Group accounts to management, the Board and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain and enhance the Group financial control environment, particularly consolidation and reporting.
  • Manage balance sheet reconciliations and monthly variance analysis, investigating movements and issues.
  • Support preparation of Group financial statements, disclosures and regulatory reporting.
  • Work with Treasury to reconcile and explain movements in investments and debt.
  • Support external audit process and ensure audit requirements are delivered on time.
  • Prepare technical accounting papers and memos in IFRS and local standards.
  • Support regulatory compliance and development of Group finance policies and processes.
  • Work with Head of Tax on transfer pricing policy implementation and maintenance.
  • Contribute to wider finance transformation, process improvement and business priorities.

Job description

Group Accountant with Immediate start. London / Hybrid, Temporary Assignment (approximately 3 months)

We're looking for a Group Accountant to join the finance team of a global travel business, supporting consolidated reporting, statutory accounts, financial controls and regulatory compliance.

Following a major business transformation, this is an exciting opportunity to help strengthen and embed the financial control environment while gaining broad exposure across an international organisation.

The Role

You'll play a key role in:

  • Supporting the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated accounts and reporting in line with IFRS.
  • Assisting with the delivery of accurate Group accounts to management, the Board and external stakeholders.
  • Maintaining and enhancing the Group financial control environment, particularly around consolidation and reporting.
  • Managing balance sheet reconciliations and monthly variance analysis, investigating movements and identifying potential issues.
  • Supporting the preparation of Group financial statements, disclosures and regulatory reporting.
  • Working closely with Treasury to reconcile and explain movements in investments and debt.
  • Supporting the external audit process and ensuring audit requirements are delivered accurately and on time.
  • Preparing technical accounting papers and memos in accordance with IFRS and relevant local standards.
  • Supporting regulatory compliance and the ongoing development of Group finance policies and processes.
  • Working with the Head of Tax on the implementation and maintenance of the Group's transfer pricing policy.
  • Contributing to wider finance transformation, process improvement and business priorities.
About You

You'll ideally be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with a strong technical and analytical background. We will also consider those 'qualified by experience'.

We're looking for:

  • Previous experience in cruise, maritime, expedition travel or a related sector would be beneficial, but is not essential.
