Job summary

Ground Control Geotechnical Solutions is seeking a hardworking Groundworker to support Mobilisation, Excavation and Reinstatement teams in London/South. You will prepare sites, assist with excavation and reinstatement, and work closely with MER Operatives to deliver projects safely and efficiently.

The role offers on-the-job training, potential for further site and safety qualifications, and clear progression toward MER Operative or Site Supervisor roles within our expanding Geotechnical

Qualifications

• Previous experience in general labouring, groundwork or construction.
• Basic understanding of excavation and reinstatement.
• Comfortable using hand tools and basic site equipment.
• Good understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements.
• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions.
• Reliable, hardworking and willing to learn.
• Good team player with a positive attitude.
• Flexible approach to supporting different projects and site requirements.
• CSCS card or equivalent.
• Valid UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Support MER Operatives with mobilisation, excavation and reinstatement activities.
• Help prepare sites, including clearing areas, setting up barriers and maintaining safe access.
• Assist with manual digging, handling tools and managing excavated materials.
• Support backfilling, compaction and reinstatement of excavated areas.
• Use basic tools and equipment such as compactors, shovels and wheelbarrows.
• Assist with loading, unloading and moving equipment, tools and materials.
• Keep tools and equipment clean, safe and in good working condition.
• Report damaged or faulty equipment to the Site Supervisor.
• Take part in toolbox talks, safety briefings and daily risk assessments.
• Follow all HSE requirements and keep sites clean, tidy and safe.
• Work closely with MER Operatives and the wider team to deliver projects safely and efficiently.
