Job summary

Orwell Housing Association is seeking a Groundworker/Labourer in Ipswich to join the Delivery Team. The role is full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8am–4:30pm, with a full UK driving licence required. The successful candidate will support groundwork and general labour tasks across Suffolk and participate in on-call duties as needed.

The position offers a varied, hands-on workload with opportunities for development within the Orwell Academy and a wellbeing programme.

Qualifications

• 4 GCSEs A-C or equivalent including English and Maths.
• Experience with hand, power and machine tools, plant and equipment is desirable.
• Property maintenance experience is desirable.
• Experience of hard landscaping is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support operatives with groundwork, fencing, general labouring and repairs.
• Work independently to ensure repairs are completed correctly the first time wherever possible.
• Assist with coordinating and arranging the delivery of materials and products needed to complete works efficiently.
• Undertake additional duties across the Delivery Team, including void property works and planned maintenance projects.
• Maintain lock-ups and storage yards on a weekly basis, following instructions and schedules provided.
• Participate in Orwell's on-call rota, responding to emergency repair requests outside of normal working hours as required.
