Job summary

Wates Smartspace is seeking an experienced Groundworker to operate across social housing properties around Skelmersdale. You will perform concrete flagging, paving, fencing, and light masonry with a proactive, safety-focused approach and strong customer service.

The role requires a Full UK Driving Licence and NVQ Level 2 in Groundworks or related field, with prior domestic or social housing maintenance experience. A company vehicle and ongoing training are provided.

Qualifications

  • Experience in groundworks, hard landscaping, or related construction trades.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and relay concrete flagging and paving.
  • Carry out light brickwork repairs, repointing, and minor masonry works.
  • Renew, repair, and install fencing (closeboard, panel, timber).
  • Perform responsive maintenance across social housing properties.
  • Ensure all work is safe, efficient, and high quality.
  • Keep accurate records and communicate with residents and supervisors.

WPS is looking for an experienced anddependableGroundworker/Hard Landscaperto join our growing team. Working across social housing properties in and around Skelmersdale, you will play a key role in deliveringhigh-qualitymaintenance, repair, andimprovementworks that make a real difference to localcommunities.

This is a hands-on position suited to someonewithstrong groundworks experience, aproactiveattitude, and acommitmentto delivering excellent workmanship and customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, repair, and relay concrete flagging and paving.
  • Carry out light brickwork repairs, repointing, and minor masonry works.
  • Renew, repair, and install closeboard, panel, and timber fencing.
  • Complete responsive maintenance and repair works across occupied and void social housing properties.
  • Ensure allworkis completed safely,efficiently, and to a high standard.
  • Maintain accurate records andcommunicateeffectivelywithresidents, colleagues, andsupervisors.
What We're Looking For
  • Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
  • NVQ Level 2 in Groundworks, Hard Landscaping, or a related construction trade (orequivalentexperience).
  • Proven experience working within domestic,residential, or social housing maintenanceenvironments.
  • Ability toworkindependentlyusing your owninitiative, as well ascollaborativelywithin a team.
  • Strongproblem-solvingskills and attention to detail.
