The business is known for its hands-on leadership, quality delivery, and solid track record in delivering both commercial and residential infrastructure projects. With a growing pipeline of secured works, they offer a secure and rewarding environment for experienced commercial professionals.

Your new role

Our client is seeking a Groundwork Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to play a pivotal role in the commercial success of projects across Merseyside and surrounding areas. You'll be responsible for both estimating new work and commercially managing live groundwork packages, primarily on high-rise residential and commercial developments. This is a hybrid role ideal for someone looking to take full ownership of tendering and post-contract cost control.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing detailed cost estimates and competitive tenders for groundwork and RC packages

  • Attending site visits and pre-tender meetings to assess project scope

  • Identifying and measuring materials, labour, and plant requirements

  • Managing subcontractor procurement and negotiation

  • Preparing and issuing enquiries for subcontractors and suppliers

  • Monitoring ongoing project costs and preparing monthly CVRs

  • Liaising with project managers to ensure alignment between commercial and operational teams

  • Managing variations, valuations, and final accounts

  • Reporting to the Commercial Director on project performance and risk

What you will need to succeed:

  • Proven experience in groundworks and civil engineering as a Quantity Surveyor or Estimator

  • Track record of pricing and managing groundwork packages on high-rise or commercial schemes

  • Excellent understanding of construction contracts and cost control procedures

  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills

  • Proficient in estimating and take-off software (e.g. Conquest, Causeway, Bluebeam or similar)

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

  • Full UK driving licence

What you get in return:

  • Excellent salary of 65,000 - 75,000 depending on experience

  • Full package including car allowance, pension scheme, and 25 days holiday

  • Long-term career progression in a financially stable, growing company

  • Direct exposure to high-profile developments and key decision-makers

  • Supportive team culture where your expertise is valued and rewarded

  • Flexible and autonomous working environment
