Salary: Circa £33,500 depending on experience, plus business use van

45 hours p/w

Location: Old Buckenham, Attleborough. Must live within 45 minutes, due to standby.

Will be required to travel to other Anglian Water sites as and when requested. All travel time within working hours.

Essential to us meeting and exceeding these targets to deliver consistent customer satisfaction are our Groundwater Engineering Unit who are looking for a Groundwater Technician to join the team in the Norfolk region.

What will you be doing?

Working across our region, including Hartlepool, you’ll help ensure full operability of groundwater assets to maintain the upstream security of supply and contribute to the delivery of measured targets. You’ll be part of a team that manages our borehole and pump assets that successfully supply 50% of raw water to meet the demand of 4 million customers.

Reporting to the Groundwater Engineering Unit Manager, you’ll be working in our team to undertake a variety of maintenance work on our groundwater assets and provide support on a host of day-to-day operations including borehole pump replacements and maintenance and groundwater asset surveys and inspections.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Carry out pump installations at critical and non-critical sites ensuring stocks are always maintained via electrical and wet well testing.
  • Support the borehole maintenance programme, including the cleaning of borehole columns.
  • Support the delivery of borehole inspections using CCTV camera.
  • Participate in the delivery of the headworks inspection and other maintenance programmes.
  • Adherence to hygiene standards and Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Driving improvements in health and safety performance across the team.
  • Supervision of contractors on site during lifting operations.

  • HGV and Forklift licence (desirable).
  • Experience in temporary electrical installation or mechanical engineering (desirable).
  • Previous welding experience (desirable).
  • Previous experience in telehandler operation and slinger signalling duties (desirable).

Training will be provided for any aspects not covered by previous work experience.

This role will require you to be part of a standby rota, so you’ll need to be motivated, have a strong team work ethic and have the capability to work flexibly as at times you will need to stay overnight due to the large geographical areas we cover.
