Core Responsibilities
- Report to the Head Groundsperson and assist in the maintenance and upkeep of all first team, academy, and community training pitches, including the Club’s 3G artificial surface and Indoor Area facility.
- Support weekend work in line with the Club’s fixture schedule across all levels, including preparation and recovery of playing surfaces ahead of Monday training sessions.
- Maintain all training pitches to a consistently high standard.
- Take proactive measures, under the guidance of the Head Groundsperson, to mitigate the impact of adverse weather conditions, ensuring training can proceed as scheduled. This may include frost protection, drainage measures, and other interventions.
- Assist with winter weather procedures such as gritting of the training ground car park and entrances in advance of staff and player arrivals.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with the First Team Manager and coaching staff regarding pitch use and rotation, when required and in the absence of the Head Groundsperson.
- Ensure all equipment and machinery are maintained in a safe and serviceable condition.
- Support in the upkeep and maintenance of goals, dugouts, and other associated equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in Groundstaff areas including the hut, yard, and shed.
- Carry out grounds maintenance tasks including trimming hedges, clearing banks, and ensuring car park safety and appearance.
- Undertake general maintenance duties and facility moves as directed.
- Always follow health and safety regulations and Club procedures.
- Receive and check deliveries when required.
- Perform any other reasonable duties as directed by the Head Groundsperson.
- Uphold and maintain the Club’s values and professional standards.

Essential: Person Specification Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 (or recognised equivalent) in Turf Maintenance or a relevant Horticulture / Turf Management qualification
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in sports turf or horticultural work
Desirable:
- Proven track record with at least 2 years' experience as a Groundsperson
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at grade C or above
- Pesticide Application qualifications: PA1, PA6A & PA06A
- Experience maintaining synthetic sports surfaces
- Manual handling training and awareness
Knowledge & Skills
Essential:
- Strong sense of responsibility and effective teamwork skills
- Good verbal communication
Desirable:
- Experience working on professional-level football pitches
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office
