Job Description:

The role involves general maintenance of allocated areas such as grass cutting, hedge trimming, and maintenance of sports areas according to approved specifications. Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking basic setting out and marking of sports areas, and maintaining artificial, synthetic, and natural pitches, including interpreting plans, site preparation, and construction activities.
  • Cleaning public buildings, parks, playgrounds, and open spaces.
  • Applying pesticides properly in accordance with manufacturer’s guidelines and legislation.
  • Working independently and supervising trainees and other staff as needed.
  • Using handheld and powered tools, including tractors and mounted equipment.
  • Adhering to health and safety policies and legislation.
  • Ensuring equipment is in good working order and safe to operate.
  • Inspecting playground equipment and recording findings as per policy.
  • Performing additional tasks within the Environmental Department as instructed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, COSHH Regulations, and safe working practices.
  • Experience with hand tools, powered machinery, and light plant.
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions within set timeframes.
  • Valid driving license and ability to tow trailers.
  • Training in machinery operation.
Additional Requirements:

Must have a clean driver’s license and be able to follow pre-planned work schedules.
