What you’ll do:
Working as part of a busy team, the Grounds Maintenance Operative will carry out horticultural duties to support the contract. Responsibilities include grass cutting, hedge cutting, spraying, and general grounds maintenance as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and specialised grounds maintenance tasks, including litter picking, mowing, strimming, hedge cutting, spraying, and pruning, following best practices.
- Ensure vehicles, machinery, tools, and work sites are clean, well-maintained, and presentable. Report any issues promptly.
- Collaborate with team members to deliver high-quality results. Communicate effectively with managers and colleagues.
- Adhere to all company procedures and use technological solutions for recording work.
- Maintain attendance and professional appearance, including wearing appropriate clothing.
- Follow Health & Safety and Environmental policies. Report accidents, hazards, and assess work areas for safety measures.
- Use PPE correctly and follow risk assessments to ensure safe practices.
- Seek opportunities for process improvement and participate in training to enhance skills.
Innovation & Efficiency: Propose ideas to improve work methods and reduce waste, helping control costs.
What we’re looking for:
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
- Competence in operating machinery and vehicles based on experience and training.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
- Understanding of Health and Safety practices.
- Strong customer service skills.
- A full UK driving licence.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications:
- Practical grounds maintenance experience.
- Formal horticultural qualifications.
- Spraying qualifications (PA1 & PA6a).
