Job summary

Riverside is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Operative in Leicester to maintain landscaped areas across the group. The role involves grass cutting, hedge trimming, litter picking, and shrub bed care, with a focus on safety and customer service.

The successful candidate will have grounds maintenance experience, a clean driving licence, and good IT skills. The position is permanent, full-time, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with generous benefits and a commitment to development.

Qualifications

• Experience in Environmental Services or grounds maintenance.
• Able to perform manual work.
• Customer-focused with excellent communication skills.
• Clean driving licence.
• Basic IT skills including Microsoft Office.
• Excellent team player with flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Undertake general maintenance to hard and soft landscaped areas, including grass cutting, hedge trimming, litter picking, clearing leaves and shrub bed cultivation.
• Provide a rapid, flexible response to removal of fly tipping, rubbish removal and graffiti removal.
• Maintain safe working practices when using hand tools and machinery.
• Report health, safety and environmental breaches to the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor per escalation route.
• Deliver excellent levels of customer service while applying Our Riverside Way in environmental work.
• Provide community insight by reporting environmental issues, safety concerns or resident feedback to the Environmental Supervisor as appropriate.
• Maintain effective relationships with colleagues on contracts.
• Engage in personal development and training to stay up to date with legislation.
• Work collaboratively and flexibly across all teams within the organisation.
• Ensure activities comply with policies, procedures and regulatory obligations.
• Respond flexibly to changes in work priorities and undertake other duties to support service operation.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of processes and procedures.
• Ensure health and safety and information security requirements are met.
