Job Title: Grounds Maintenance (Environmental Supervisor)
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: £30,220.88 per annum
Working Hours: 35 hours per week
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday
Location: Liverpool / Hybrid

The difference you will make as a Environmental Supervisor

In this role you will be leading a team of Grounds Maintenance Operatives to deliver the Group's environmental offer including carrying out a range of grounds maintenance work within your assigned region to landscaped areas, gardens and open spaces owned by the Group. Ideally in this role you will develop and coach the Grounds Maintenance Operatives to ensure the delivery of a high quality service, regularly reviewing work outputs, setting improvement targets and appraising individual performance. Ensure under performance is dealt with appropriately, also you will provide a rapid flexible response to the removal of fly tipping, rubbish removal and graffiti removal.

• Demonstrable experience of successfully supervising teams, including managing team
performance.
• Demonstrable Environmental Services / grounds maintenance experience.
• Customer focussed with excellent communication and relationship building skills.
• Ability to undertake manual work.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure, deliver to strict deadlines
and manage conflicting priorities.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.

Role Profile

Job Purpose
Leading a team of Grounds Maintenance Operatives to deliver the Group's environmental offer including carrying out a range of grounds maintenance work within your assigned region to landscaped areas, gardens and open spaces owned by the Group.

Accountabilities or "What You Have to Do"
• Leads the Grounds Maintenance Operatives in carrying out general maintenance to hard and soft landscaped areas owned by the Group including grass cutting, hedge trimming, litter picking, clearing leaves and shrub bed cultivations.
• Develop and coach the Grounds Maintenance Operatives to ensure the delivery of a high quality service, regularly reviewing work outputs, setting improvement targets and appraising individual performance. Ensure under performance is dealt with appropriately.
• Provide a rapid flexible response to the removal of fly tipping, rubbish removal and graffiti removal.
• Develop resource plans including numbers and types of seasonal workers. Contributing to the recruitment process as required.
• Manage escalated queries and complaints in line with the agreed process, ensuring effective resolution within appropriate timescales.
• Oversee the day to day activities carried out by the operatives, including effective deployment and access to the required materials and equipment to meet the service offer.
• Promote safe working practices at all times, including the appropriate usage of hand tools and machinery by yourself and the operatives, ensuring all equipment is in full working order and PAT tested as appropriate.
• Manage health, safety and environmental breaches and issues as required and in line with agreed processes, escalating to the National Environmental Services Manager as appropriate.
• Ensuring that 'Our Riverside Way' of working is embedded within the environmental offer by ensuring the delivery of excellent levels of customer service at all times.
• Gather community insight, ensuring the effective reporting and escalation of environmental issues, community safety or resident as appropriate and in line with the agreed escalation route
• Maintain effective relationships with colleagues on each of our contracts and work collaboratively and flexibly across all teams within the organisation.
• Undertake personal development and training to keep up to date with all relevant legislation.
• Work collaboratively and flexibly across all teams within the organisation.
• Ensure work activities are compliant with the organisation's policies and procedures as well as external statutory and regulatory obligations.
• Regularly review service delivery to ensure continuous improvement. Improvement opportunities identified and realised should be in accordance with change management protocols.
• Work collaboratively with the Environmental Management leadership team to ensure effective delivery of the wider service.
• Ensure that all information security requirements, including data protection, are met in accordance with the Group's policy, procedures and statutory requirements.
• Ensure that health and safety requirements are met in accordance with the Group's policy, procedures and statutory requirements.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential
• Demonstrable experience of successfully supervising teams, including managing team
performance.
• Demonstrable Environmental Services / grounds maintenance experience.
• Customer focussed with excellent communication and relationship building skills.
• Ability to undertake manual work.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure, deliver to strict deadlines
and manage conflicting priorities.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
Desirable
• Health and Safety qualification e.g. NEBOSH General, or equivalent

Additional Information
• The Group has offices across the UK and on this basis, there will be the requirement to travel
to other locations to effectively perform this role.
• It is a requirement that the role holder holds a current, valid UK driving licence.
• The role will be exposed to sensitive information, therefore the role holder is expected to
maintain levels of confidentiality at all times.
• In order to fulfil the requirements of this role, you will be required to work flexibly during the
hours of operation.
