Job description

Grounds Maintenance Contract Supervisor - Wiltshire

The Contract Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of the contract, planning tasks and resources to ensure a high-quality, efficient, and safe service. You will report to the Contract Manager and may deputise for them.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Organising staff and teams to deliver the service according to Glendale Live schedules.
  • Collaborating with the Contract Manager on staffing needs using reports and plans.
  • Monitoring progress and performance via Glendale Live and other systems.
  • Conducting quality checks and providing reports.
  • Managing call outs, out-of-hours, and holiday rotas to meet service requirements.
  • Assisting in recruitment and employment processes, ensuring administration is completed promptly.
  • Managing employee and subcontractor records and maintaining good employee relations.
  • Supporting staff training to meet compliance and develop skills.
  • Investigating incidents and supporting disciplinary actions.
  • Evaluating and maintaining vehicles and machinery in accordance with manufacturer recommendations.
  • Ensuring all equipment is safe and checked for use.
  • Providing information for client reports and attending meetings with the Contract Manager.
  • Maintaining communication with clients and the public.
  • Liaising with Client Officers on work programmes, technical matters, and issue resolution.
  • Recommending improvements to service standards.
  • Completing workforce timesheets and managing holiday approvals.
  • Producing quotations for additional work and overseeing their delivery.
  • Participating in health and safety compliance, safety inspections, and incident investigations.
  • Organising safety meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Supporting environmental standards compliance, including ISO 14001.
  • Deputising for the Contract Manager as needed.
  • Performing other relevant duties as required.
Health and Safety
  • Adhere to the Health and Safety at Work Act and company policies.
  • Follow instructions and complete necessary health and safety training.
  • Ensure safety of yourself and others, promoting safe working practices.
Machine Maintenance and Security
  • Ensure machinery and equipment are suitable and safe for use.
  • Report defects immediately and complete maintenance documentation.
  • Secure machinery and equipment when not in use.

A full, clean driving licence is essential.
