Qualifications

  • Knowledge of plant care and maintenance is essential.
  • Experience in sports turf care is preferable but not essential.

About us

The Role

Reporting to the Grounds & Gardens Manager you will be supporting the team in the maintenance and upkeep of The Lensbury grounds and gardens.

This is a 32 hour role, working 4 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • General seasonal turf maintenance (cutting, feeding, edging etc.)
  • Watering of all new planting, bedding planting, container planting & turf
  • Assist in annual sports surface renovation
  • Ensure all entrances, exits, and fire escapes are accessible and clear of leaves, grass, etc
  • Assist with ensuring all areas such as flowerbeds, garden and grass surfaces, trees etc. are correctly maintained, and all external areas are kept clean, tidy, and always well presented
  • Check for general wear of the pitches, any disease or discolouration of the grass and report to the manager or Head Groundsperson
  • Undertake leaf blowing, clearance, and weeding of all shrub borders
  • Litter picking and bin emptying around the whole of The Lensbury site
  • Undertake gritting and snow clearing as required
  • Assist with the safeguarding and correct storage of all machinery, fertilisers, chemicals and equipment and participate in any relevant training on procedures for their use.
  • Clean and maintain the outdoor furniture
  • Undertake any other jobs required by the Head Gardener or management.
  • Ensure all Health and safety procedures and policies are always adhered to.

What We’re Looking For

To be successful in this role, you must possess the following qualifications, attitude, behaviours, skills, and values:

  • General knowledge of plants and their care and maintenance
  • Experience in sports turf care (preferable but not essential)
  • Good communicator with a can-do attitude, and the ability to work in the team as well as unsupervised.
  • NVQ Level 2 or RHS equivalent (preferable but not essential)
  • PA1, PA2 and PA6 in pesticide and herbicide applications (preferable but not essential)
  • Experience operating tractors and tractor-mounted equipment (desirable but not essential as training can be provided)
  • Driving licence
  • Committed to progress within the role
  • Focused on training and development
