Ground Support Equipment Mechanic (Aviation)

Location: Eagle, Gunnison, Montrose, CO | Onsite

Compensation & Schedule:

  • $45/hr – $60/hr BOE
  • Full-time; extended hours during seasonal peaks; occasional on-call rotation
  • W2 direct hire
  • Immediate start available

ROLE IMPACT

Support critical airport operations across three Colorado airports by ensuring uptime and reliability of all ground support equipment. This role requires high independence, mechanical versatility, and strong prioritization skills to respond effectively during active flight schedules and adverse weather. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates moving to Colorado.

KEY DUTIES

  • Diagnose and repair diesel/gas engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems on various ground support assets
  • Perform preventive maintenance and seasonal reliability projects
  • Use diagrams, schematics, and diagnostic tools to isolate faults efficiently
  • Conduct component replacements, minor fabrications, and system adjustments
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work orders, parts, and labor
  • Uphold worksite safety, PPE compliance, and proper tool/area organization
  • Provide field response for ramp equipment during live operations and winter weather events

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of hands-on mechanic experience (diesel experience preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Personal tool set for mixed fleet maintenance
  • Proficient in mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems

EQUIPMENT & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Belt loaders, tugs, de-icing units, passenger vans, baggage carts
  • Outdoor ramp environments; cold weather exposure during winter operations
  • Independent work across multiple airport sites
  • PPE, LOTO, and safety training adherence required
  • Light fabrication/modification tools usage

SKILLS

  • ASE certification
  • Prior experience with de-icing systems or industrial/airport fleets
  • Familiarity with cold-weather operational challenges
