Job summary

London Southend Airport Company Limited is hiring a Ground Security Officer to help keep the airport safe, secure and welcoming. The role includes full training to Civil Aviation Authority standards and a four-week initial training block.

You will work a varied shift pattern (03:00–00:00), screen passengers and baggage, and perform security patrols while maintaining essential documentation and collaborating with the team to ensure a smooth passenger journey.

Qualifications

• As you will be operating X-Ray Machines, you must pass a colour-blind test.
• Strong communication skills are essential for passenger service.
• Flexibility to work a varied shift pattern across airport hours (03:00–00:00).
• Desirable: previous customer service experience.
• Desirable: experience working in aviation.

About the role

Our Security Team is at the heart of keeping London Southend Airport safe, secure and welcoming. Working a varied shift pattern across the airport's operating hours (03:00-00:00), the team work together to ensure passengers enjoy a smooth, safe and efficient journey from the moment they arrive. As Ground Security Officer, you will receive full training to Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) standards, giving you all the support you need to succeed in the role. The initial training course for our Ground Security Officers consists of four 40-hour weeks. Please be aware that, if successful, you will be required to attend the course in full.

Key Responsibilities

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Our fantastic Security Training team equip our Ground Security Officers with the training and skills required to excel in this role, however, there are a few requirements successful candidates will need to meet:

Essential:

• As you will be operating the X-Ray Machines, you will be required to pass a colour-blind test
• Strong communication skills
• Flexibility to work a varied shift pattern across the operating hours of the airport (03:00-00:00)

Desirable:

• Previous customer service experience
• Experience working in aviation

The pay range for this role is:

13.50 - 13.50 GBP per hour(London Southend Airport)
