Job summary

Croda is seeking an Industrial Placement Student to join the Sustainable Polymers Team for 12 months from August/September 2027 at our Goole site. You will conduct lab-based research developing novel, sustainable polymers and perform routine analyses using GPC, HPLC, FTIR and NMR.

The role emphasizes self-management, collaboration, and clear report-writing, with opportunities for career development and coaching meetings throughout the placement.

Qualifications

• A Level in Chemistry and working towards a 2.1 in a Chemistry or related degree.
• Good laboratory skills and be able to communicate effectively in reports and verbally.
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage and plan your own workload.
• Teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential for this role.
• Passion for sustainability and green chemistry.
• Knowledge / experience of polymer chemistry (desirable but not essential).
• Awareness of SHE within a lab environment (desirable but not essential).

Responsibilities

• Conduct a lab-based research project, synthesising novel, sustainable polymers for commercial applications.
• Complete routine analysis using techniques including GPC, HPLC, FTIR and NMR.
• Keep accurate written records up to date.
• Present regular updates to the local synthesis team and other relevant stakeholders from the wider Croda community.
