Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Graphite Team Leader to guide a 6–8 person group focused on the structural integrity of graphite, primarily supporting AGR life extension and next‑gen reactor work. You will provide technical oversight, line management and contribute to business development.

About the Opportunity The Structural Analysis and Assessment Team is seeking a motivated and dynamic Graphite Team leader to manage a group of 6-8 specialists focused on the structural integrity of nuclear graphite. Most of the team’s work supports life extension for the UK’s Advanced Gas‑cooled Reactor (AGR) fleet, with increasing activity in the new reactor design space. You’ll guide delivery, shape strategy, and grow our portfolio by building relationships with new and existing clients, including owners of next‑generation graphite‑moderated reactors. The successful candidate will have a sound structural integrity background, with knowledge of nuclear graphite preferable, but not essential. The role includes technical oversight and delivery, in addition to line management and winning work. Therefore, the position will offer the opportunity to develop your technical skills further, in addition to a potential path into more senior leadership roles. You and your team will be part of our wider Structural Analysis and Assessment Team. The team comprises a broad range of Engineering and Scientific experts spanning mathematics, physics, structural and mechanical engineering, software development, finite‑element stress analysis, and structural integrity analysis and assessment. We provide these services to a range of customers, mainly but not exclusively in the nuclear industry, to ensure the economic and safe operation of capital‑intensive plant, from both government and private industry. We also actively participate in a number of national and international projects and work closely with other parts of Amentum to provide integrated solutions to client requirements. The team excels at hybrid working, with some days at home and others in our offices in Warrington, Knutsford and Manchester.
