The ideal candidate is a skilled visual communicator with a strong design portfolio, deep knowledge of design principles, and the ability to synthesize complex information into engaging, accessible formats. A background or interest in science communication, education, or learning design is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with client-facing and creative teams to develop design concepts that align with brand guidelines and project objectives
  • Translate academic research into visually engaging layouts and content for:
    • Presentation decks (PowerPoint, Google Slides)
    • Journal articles, white papers, and reports
    • Digital learning tools and training materials
    • Social media graphics and templates
    • Custom icons, infographics, and illustrations
  • Maintain consistency with brand identity and visual tone across all projects
  • Incorporate feedback from stakeholders and iterate quickly to refine deliverables
  • Stay current with design trends, tools, and technologies to ensure fresh, relevant visuals
  • Maintain a well-organized file management system and asset library
Objectives

  • Create design work that effectively communicates complex ideas and enhances audience engagement
  • Deliver projects on time, on brand, and to specification
  • Contribute to a collaborative, feedback-friendly workflow
  • Continuously improve skills and stay up to date with relevant trends and tools

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in graphic design (agency, in-house, or freelance)
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
  • Excellent understanding of layout, typography, and visual storytelling
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to distill and visualize complex or abstract concepts
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated

Bonus Skills

  • Experience with motion design and video editing in After Effects and Premiere Pro
  • Familiarity with scientific, academic, or behavioral research fields
  • Experience in designing digital learning or e-learning materials

Work Structure

  • Contract-based, with potential for ongoing work
  • Remote with flexible hours
  • Must be available for occasional virtual meetings and responsive to project timelines
