Graphic Designer

Who We Are

NHS 24 is a patient-focused service providing the people of Scotland with triage, advice, guidance, referral and information on health and healthcare services. We have six regional centres – Aberdeen, Dundee, South Queensferry, Hillington, Cardonald and Clydebank. NHS 24 supports hybrid working, and this post can be based within any NHS 24 regional centres.

The Role

Communication is a key function of NHS 24, driving culture change and offering a critical strategic tool in delivering corporate objectives and strategies. The Graphic Designer provides tactical communication advice and supports staff through the design and publication process ensuring a consistently high standard of quality in both print and digital communications and champions our ‘digital first’ approach to publishing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver digital content communications actions efficiently and effectively and be able to adapt those plans, as the project and corporate objectives develop to ensure the requirements to produce graphic design content are met for a broad range of projects or initiatives
  • Lead the innovative and creative design of internal and external multi-media communications, including managing all aspects of the design, layout, production and dissemination, and ensuring that the design meets client needs and complies with NHS 24 and NHS Scotland corporate style and that they are published within the set timescale and budget limit
  • Advise staff, Directors, and the Chief Executive Team on innovative communications solutions, house style and use of plain English, to ensure corporate communications are effectively targeted to audiences, delivered consistently, and achieve measurable results
  • Support the planning and implementation of graphic design content for marketing strategies and campaigns in order that they meet their objectives
Successful Applicant will:
  • Be educated to degree level in an appropriate specialist discipline or have equivalent specialist experience
  • Demonstrate high levels of creativity, design and presentation skills
  • Have experience in using Adobe Creative Cloud (In Design Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Dreamweaver) and others
  • Ideally have knowledge of web content management systems including Umbraco, WordPress and other CMS

NHS 24 offers a complete benefits package, with a temporary contract of 3 months on Band 5 £33,247 - £41,424 Per Annum (pro rata if applicable). Placement on salary scale is dependent on confirmation of previous relevant NHS service.
