Job description

Role: Grants Verification Officer - Temporary - Belfast

VANRATH is partnering with a returning client to recruit a Grants Verification Officer for a temporary position in Belfast. The successful candidate will lead, plan, and deliver an independent audit service.

Salary & Duration

£30,000 per annum, up to 6 months with potential extension.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Ensure expenditure is eligible, accurate, and aligned with project budgets.
  2. Complete verification forms and reports, highlighting non-compliance or irregularities for management action.
  3. Verify project compliance with grant applications, contract conditions, and funding agreements.
  4. Tailor verification work to project size and nature, addressing irregularities.
  5. Report financial irregularities to relevant authorities with recommendations for improvement.
  6. Contribute to review of funding schemes, policies, and procedures, managing changing priorities.
  7. Safeguard financial records and assist auditors.
  8. Foster effective relationships and provide guidance, contributing to policy development.
Essential Criteria
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent (Grade C or above), including Maths and English.
  • At least 2 years' experience in verification, audit of expenditure, financial accounting, or payroll processing.
  • Experience reviewing financial processes and controls.
  • Stakeholder engagement experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
