Job description

You will be responsible for delivering proactive, high-quality, and value-added assurance services over compliance with grant-making bodies/donor rules and requirements for grants awarded for agreed projects/outputs for public and private sector organisations nationally. The role involves working with the Grants Assurance Manager to plan, coordinate, and deliver grant verification reviews. This includes planning, liaising with grantees, preparing working papers, briefing the team, leading fieldwork, quality assurance, providing feedback, and reporting. You will also play a key role in developing and delivering training, alongside business development activities such as proposals and events, and training grantee teams. The team has experienced strong growth and offers opportunities for progression. You will contribute to the wider success of the Risk Consulting service line and its continuous improvement. While the work is currently conducted remotely, the role can be based in Poole, London, Manchester, or Birmingham, with travel as needed. You will report to the Director and Partner responsible for Public Services within Risk Consulting.

Role & Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate and support the overall work programme for grant assurance.
  2. Manage grant assignments from planning through to certification and draft reports within deadlines.
  3. Perform fieldwork, liaising with grantees, briefing the team, and leading feedback meetings.
  4. Organize tasks and responsibilities considering team members' skills.
  5. Provide on-the-job training and supervision of junior staff during fieldwork.
  6. Build and maintain strong relationships with grantees, addressing issues promptly.
  7. Maintain control under pressure, meeting deadlines and managing urgency.
  8. Ensure high-quality work in line with firm policies and regulatory requirements.
  9. Provide constructive feedback for team performance appraisals.
  10. Assist with other grant assurance assignments as required.
  11. Confidently present service features and benefits to providers.
  12. Ensure services are appropriate for grantees.
  13. Identify opportunities for new work.
  14. Support the development and delivery of training and methodology improvements.
  15. Maintain standards and procedures across the team.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Knowledge of grant funding and regulatory environment or external audit.
  • Holds CCAB qualification (ACA, CA, ACCA, IIA, or equivalent).
  • Good interpersonal and client handling skills.
  • Experience managing, training, and coaching junior staff.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
