For 30 years we’ve been creating incredible video games at our multiple studios, but Rebellion is more than just games. We have our own film studio, we create board games, publish books, and through 2000AD, publish comics and graphic novels such as the amazing Judge Dredd.

We're looking for a Graduate VFX Artist who is looking to start their career in games and join a passionate and growing VFX team and work on an exciting new large-scale project, crafted by a seasoned team renowned for developing exceptional shooters.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the creation of real-time visual effects, working from clear briefs and inspiring references.
  • Prepare source assets, textures, flipbooks, and meshes, ready for use in particle systems.
  • Bring effects to life in-engine, test them in gameplay, and troubleshoot to ensure they perform as intended.
  • Build your knowledge of studio pipelines, performance budgets, and the fundamentals of profiling.
  • Take part in regular reviews, embrace feedback as part of your growth, and keep project files clean and organised.

This exciting opportunity can be based out of any of our studios in Oxford or Warwick, offering flexibility, collaboration, and the chance to work with a world-class team! We can provide a relocation package, including moving assistance, temporary accommodation, and full support to ensure a smooth transition to your new environment.

We believe in the power of face-to-face collaboration and encourage working from our Oxford headquarters. However, we understand that flexibility matters, so we’re open to discussing hybrid options based on individual needs.

Qualifications
  • A recent graduate (or equivalent) with a portfolio that highlights real-time visual effects, showing strong timing, clarity, and a creative spark.
  • Comfortable working with tools such as Blender, Photoshop, Substance, and After Effects (or equivalent software).
  • A solid grasp of particle system basics, including sprite and flipbook creation, as well as texture workflows for games.
  • Curious and confident in exploring tools like Houdini and Embergen (or similar) to build flipbook simulations.
  • An understanding of 2D particle texture creation techniques and how they bring effects to life in real time.
  • The ability to turn concept art and reference material into effects that feel exciting and believable in-game.
  • Any extra experience, whether from game jams, mods, internships, or professional projects, as well as familiarity with source control systems, will be seen as a valuable bonus.
We offer an extensive benefits package to our team including:
  • 22 days holidays + Christmas closure (typically 4 days) & Bank holidays (increasing with service at 5 years – one day each year until you reach 31 days)
  • Private Medical Insurance, healthcare cash plan, including dental and Vision
  • Life Assurance, Income Protection & Critical Illness Cover
  • Enhanced Family Leave
  • Interest Free, Tax-Free loans
  • Enhanced Pension Scheme
  • EAP a range of Mental Health and Wellbeing Support
  • Plus loads more… including a wide range of discounts, freebies, and social events!
