Christ’s Hospital seeks a motivated graduate or undergraduate as a Sports Assistant for its Sports Department. Christ’s Hospital is seeking a motivated graduate or undergraduate to join its Sports Department. The role involves coaching and supporting in rugby, football, netball, athletics, hockey, and/or cricket, as well as assisting with departmental administration.
Experience in Strength & Conditioning is advantageous. The successful candidate should be highly motivated and prepared to work in a co-educational boarding school environment dedicated to providing first-class education to students from diverse backgrounds.
This is a temporary position for one academic year starting at the end of August 2025, with potential for extension through a competitive process. Past Graduate Assistants have progressed to further teaching roles at Christ’s Hospital, including PGCE training.
The Sports Department comprises 7 staff members, nearly 30 external coaches, Graduate Sports Assistants, and full-time academic staff. The Director of Sport manages the Activity for Life programme, promoting enjoyable and balanced physical activities that foster responsible lifestyle choices. The Head of Sport Science oversees the PE programme.
Sport is a vital part of the Activity for Life programme, with various sports run by PE staff and external coaches. Main sports include Rugby, Football, Netball, Hockey, Cricket, and Athletics, alongside achievements in Badminton, Cross-Country, Fives, Squash, and others like Basketball and Swimming.
Facilities are extensive, featuring grass pitches, floodlit all-weather pitches, netball and tennis courts, cricket squares, a swimming pool, sports hall, gym, squash and fives courts, a fitness suite, and a dance studio. Future developments include padel courts, a new athletics track and field area, and an activity trail.
