The modern studio is located in the vibrant technology hub of Cambridge (UK). The talented team at Frontier are dedicated to nurturing our existing portfolio and delivering our exciting future roadmap.

This role is offered on a full in-studio basis or a hybrid basis (typically 3 days per week in the studio). We can provide a comprehensive relocation support package as part of any offer, should you need to relocate.

WHAT'S THE ROLE?

The Graduate UI Developer is responsible for creating compelling and responsive user interfaces across multiple platforms. Works under the direction of the UI Lead ensuring that all goals are achieved in timely manner. The role expects continues learning of new technologies and their application within the UI tech space. Passion for development of UI components and screens and problem solving is pivotal to deliver the quality that the team strives for, in all of our games.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
  • Learn about and help to develop quality UI code across various projects and platforms.
  • Contribute to, learn about and improve our codebase and tools to create UI features.
  • Collaborates with UI Designers, Gameplay programmers and other UI developers to build prototypes and fully featured UI screens and components.
  • Works closely with their team to understand problems and collaboratively develop smart solutions.
  • Create optimised and performant well readable code.
  • Learn how to understand and translate UI designs creatively into workable UI solutions.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
  • Familiar with at least one high-level language, E.g. C#, LUA, JS, Haxe, AS3 or Java.
  • Experience with or knowledge of languages' debugging tools and know how to use them to diagnose bugs.
  • Resilient under pressure with the ability to remain calm and take important decisions.
  • Awareness of the performance constraints real-time applications have and has at least some experience profiling and optimizing their code.
  • Comfortable weaving assets provided by Designers and Artists into new or existing UI’s.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
BONUS IF YOU HAVE
  • Knowledge of motion design.
  • Familiarity with TypeScript.
