Graduate CAD Technician

Location: Darlington
Salary: £26,000 – £32,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Overview

A fantastic opportunity for a Graduate CAD Technician to join a growing technical design team based in Darlington. This role is ideal for someone with a relevant qualification looking to begin a career in construction design. You'll gain hands-on experience producing technical drawings and working on live projects, with support and mentoring from experienced professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Create 2D CAD drawings to support project design, approvals, and installation
• Interpret technical specifications, architectural drawings, and client requirements
• Work collaboratively with other team members to produce accurate detailing
• Assist with material scheduling and maintaining drawing records
• Liaise with internal teams and external contacts to ensure timely delivery of information
• Contribute to progress reporting and occasional site or design meetings

Candidate Profile

• HNC/HND or degree in a relevant subject (e.g., Architectural Technology, Construction, Design Engineering, Civil Engineering)
• Competent in AutoCAD (2D essential; 3D or Revit is a plus)
• Good attention to detail, numeracy, and communication skills
• Organised and capable of managing tasks to meet deadlines
• Willing to learn, take feedback, and grow within a technical team

Desirable Experience

• Internship or placement experience in a construction or design environment
• Exposure to detailing for cladding, roofing, or building envelope systems
• Basic understanding of UK building regulations
