Graduate Trainee – Auditor
As a Graduate Trainee you will be working in our Risk, Assurance and Compliance Team, which is part of our Finance directorate. The team is small, but it has a big reach. We manage programmes of work that include audit and assurance, risk management, business continuity, compliance and quality management. We also work closely with every part of the business. So, joining the team is a great way to learn about the whole business.
What does a Auditor Graduate Trainee do at NHS Supply Chain?
As a Graduate Trainee in the Risk, Assurance and Compliance Team you will spend time working in each of the three core parts of the team: audit and assurance, risk management and compliance.
During your time in audit and assurance, you will help audit the contracts with our logistics and IT Service Providers as well as our outsourced Category Management Service Providers. This will involve both cost and contract audits. You will also test some of our key internal controls to make sure they are well designed and operating effectively.
Whilst working in risk management, you will get to understand the key risks the business faces and understand how they are managed. You will also be involved in some of our regular risk management meetings, such as the Risk Champions Network, the Risk Steering Group and the Risk Forum.
Working with our Compliance Team, you will be involved with a range of activities related to the key laws and regulations we must comply with. These could include maintaining the system we use to manage colleague declarations (such as conflicts of interest or gifts and hospitality), compliance training and helping to maintain core policies.
The programme will last up to 3 years, during which time you will also complete relevant external training courses (such as the Internal Audit Practitioner qualification from the Institute of Internal Audit or the ISO 27001 Lead Auditor qualification). You will be allocated a mentor for the duration of your programme and the opportunity to gain feedback.
With the support from others in the team, as a Graduate Trainee, you will also work with senior leaders in the business to deliver strategic projects that closely support the businesses goals. You will support large projects needed to deliver the business plans and will eventually lead on smaller projects with appropriate support, guidance, and training.
