Job description

Job Title: Graduate Town Planner

Location: Congleton

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading land and planning business in their search for a Graduate Planner.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate - or someone close to completing an RTPI-accredited degree - to begin their career in planning with a company at the forefront of land promotion in the UK. Applications from Human Geography graduates will also be considered, provided there is a willingness to undertake a part-time RTPI-accredited Planning MSc (typically at The University of Manchester).

You'll be joining an established in-house team of land and planning professionals, working on a diverse, nationwide portfolio of residential and mixed-use development opportunities. The business is known for its successful track record, collaborative culture, and commitment to developing emerging talent.

The Role

As a Graduate Planner, you will support the planning team to promote strategic land opportunities through the planning application process and Local Plan allocations.

Key responsibilities include:

* Supporting research for planning applications and site promotions (5YHLS, policy analysis, site design, planning statements, socio-economic impacts)

* Evaluating the planning potential of land opportunities and supporting site acquisition strategy

* Assisting in masterplanning and early-stage site design

* Attending meetings with landowners, agents, and local authorities

* Monitoring local and national planning policy changes

* Preparing and submitting representations to Local and Neighbourhood Plans

* Managing internal planning data and tracking progress on strategic sites

What's on Offer

* Competitive starting salary

* Annual bonus scheme

* Private medical cover (single cover)

* 26 days' holiday (rising with service)

* Flexible benefits package

* Enhanced family-friendly policies

* Hybrid working with flexible start/finish times

* Full support towards RTPI Chartership, with structured training and mentorship

This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated graduate to join a market-leading land and planning business with a clear pathway for progression and professional development.
