A leading UK packaging company seeks a qualified Design Engineer to support tooling design in a dynamic technical environment. This role offers the chance to enhance skills, work with experienced teams, and engage in various projects within engineering and production. Ideal candidates will have relevant qualifications and strong knowledge in CAD software.
My client is a leading designer and manufacturer of packaging for the UK retail market. For the last 4 decades, this business has been at the forefront of innovation, sustainability, and manufacturing processes within their sector.
We are looking for a qualified Design Engineer with either a BSc, BEng, or HNC Level 4 in a relevant discipline, with an interest in tool design, and who offers a strong portfolio. The role is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to enhance their skills and learn from an experienced team.
Working closely with the Design, Engineering, and Production teams, your role as a Graduate/Junior Tooling Design Engineer is to assist in the creation and development of tooling for a variety of production machinery based within the client's manufacturing facilities.
As a Tooling Design Engineer, in addition to assisting the Tool Designer, you will also work on your own projects with the responsibility of all aspects of the development process. Practical engineering skills would be advantageous to assist in tooling assembly, prototyping, and innovation projects.
As part of this role, you will also have the opportunity to work closely with the Production and Quality departments. This diverse and varied role offers an exciting opportunity within the dynamic technical department. Applicants will need a high degree of initiative and self-motivation, combined with the ability to be versatile, and have the confidence to make technical design recommendations.
Applicants should also have a working knowledge of a suitable 3D CAD package, such as Creo, SolidWorks, or Inventor. Good written and verbal communication skills are required, with an understanding of the basic principles of mechanics and material science, and the ability to read engineering drawings. Any CNC experience would be welcome but is not essential.
