Job summary

Precept Recruit is seeking a Graduate Test Engineer in Derby to join a growing team. The role requires SC clearance and offers a salary of 25,000–32,000 per year with exceptional benefits. You will test functional, regression and integration aspects, document results, and support lab setups.

Candidates should have a relevant degree or equivalent qualification, with TCP/IP and basic networking knowledge. Onsite role with a pension and other benefits.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field; HND or apprenticeship accepted.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking and basic security concepts.
• Exposure to Linux or Windows environments and basic scripting is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Execute functional, regression and integration testing.
• Follow and contribute to test plans and procedures.
• Document test results and defect reports accurately.
• Assist with product validation and verification activities.
• Investigate faults and collaborate with software/hardware engineers.
• Support setup and maintenance of laboratory test environments.
• Assist with customer demonstrations and product evaluations.
• Develop knowledge of IP networking and network security technologies.

What we’re looking for:

We are looking for a technically curious and motivated individual with strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and a willingness to learn. Candidates should have a relevant degree, HND, apprenticeship or equivalent qualification, with a good understanding of TCP/IP, IP addressing, subnetting, switching, routing, VLANs, DHCP, DNS and basic network troubleshooting. Familiarity with Linux or Windows is required, while Python, Wireshark, networking certifications and software testing experience are desirable.
