GSL Education are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Graduate Teaching Assistant inSunderland to support students in a Post-16 educational environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for aspiring teachers, educational psychologists, or support staff to gain valuable classroom experience while making a difference in young people’s lives.

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant (Grad TA), you will provide academic and pastoral support to learners aged 16–19, helping them engage in their studies and achieve their potential. You will work alongside teachers and support staff to assist with both classroom learning and individual progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Individual Learning: Help implement personalised learning plans.
  • Provide Targeted Support: Offer 1:1 and small group assistance tailored to student needs.
  • Monitor Progress: Track student development and adjust support as required.
  • Collaborate with Staff and Families: Work closely with teachers, support teams, and parents/carers.
  • Create a Positive Environment: Help build a space where students feel safe, respected, and encouraged.
  • Engage Learners: Use a variety of strategies to maintain student interest and adapt to different learning styles.
  • Keep Accurate Records: Maintain documentation of student progress and share insights with staff.

Requirements:

  • A degree in any discipline (Education or related fields preferred).
  • A genuine interest in education and supporting young learners.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Previous experience in a school or support setting is desirable but not essential.
  • Have anupdated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps)and anenhanced DBSregistered to theUpdate Service(or be willing to apply for one).
