Graduate Teaching Assistant Psychology or Criminology Background
Location: Newhaven
Salary: £90 - £100 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time, Long-term

Are you a recent graduate in Psychology or Criminology looking to gain hands-on experience in education or child development?

GSL Education are recruiting a Graduate Teaching Assistant for a welcoming SEN school in Newhaven. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your academic background in a meaningful way, supporting children with special educational needs while developing key skills for a future career in education, mental health, or social care.

About the Role:

You ll be supporting students across the school, particularly those with autism, SEMH needs, and behavioural challenges. Your understanding of behaviour, emotional regulation and learning development will be key in helping pupils thrive in a classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils with SEN

  • Use your knowledge to implement behaviour and learning strategies

  • Build trusting relationships that support social and emotional growth

  • Collaborate with teaching staff and specialists to deliver pupil-centred support

  • Contribute to a safe, supportive and structured learning environment

Job Requirements:
  • Degree in Psychology, Criminology, or a related field

  • Passion for supporting children and young people with SEN or SEMH

  • Resilient, patient, and calm under pressure

  • Ability to work well in a team and take direction

  • Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one)
