Job Title: Graduate Teaching Assistant (Grad TA)
Location: Newcastle
Salary: £84 - £110 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Daily Supply, Long-Term

Are you a recent graduate with aspirations of becoming a teacher or working in education? Are you looking to gain valuable classroom experience before embarking on your teacher training journey?

GSL Education are welcoming applications from enthusiastic and driven graduates who are eager to work as Teaching Assistants in a vibrant and supportive school setting in Newcastle. This is an ideal opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience while making a meaningful contribution to pupils learning and development.

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support students in reaching their full academic and personal potential. Your responsibilities will include working with individuals and small groups, assisting with lesson preparation, and fostering a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support classroom teachers with lesson delivery and pupil engagement.
  • Provide one-on-one or small-group interventions to reinforce learning objectives.
  • Assist pupils with a range of abilities and needs, including SEND and EAL.
  • Contribute to maintaining a focused and inclusive learning atmosphere.
  • Help manage behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Offer academic and pastoral support to students across key stages.

Requirements:

  • Hold a degree in any subject core subjects, Psychology, Education, or Humanities preferred.
  • Genuine passion for working in education and supporting young people.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and relate to students.
  • A proactive, adaptable, and patient approach to working in schools.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people (desirable, but not essential).
  • An interest in progressing into teaching or further educational roles in the future.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
