Overview

Graduate teaching assistant in the Chorley area. Full-time and part-time positions available. From £89 per day. Axcis is a specialist educational needs agency working across the country to provide short- and long-term positions within a range of educational settings.

What you will do

We are looking for enthusiastic graduates who are ready to start a new academic year. You will support children and young people with additional needs in various settings, including mainstream schools, pupil referral units, alternative provision, primary and secondary schools. Many roles welcome graduates who show initiative and have a positive attitude, providing a calm and nurturing learning environment. Experience in a classroom setting is not essential; relevant personal or professional experience is valued.

Responsibilities
  • Support children with a range of special educational needs in classroom activities and everyday learning
  • Contribute to a calm, nurturing environment to enable learners to engage and progress
  • Be proactive, adaptable and dedicated to helping learners achieve
What we need from you
  • At least 6 months personal or professional experience supporting adults or children with special educational needs, or a certified qualification in a relevant area (education, psychology, drama, etc.)
  • A patient, compassionate and positive attitude
  • Flexibility to work in school hours (contracts usually 8:30am to 3-4:30pm, depending on the school)
  • Ability to reliably commute to settings by driving or public transport
