Job summary

Teaching Personnel invites graduates to gain real classroom experience in Manchester and surrounding areas. Starting in November, you will join a school on a full-time basis, working with experienced teachers to understand daily life in education.

You could be placed as a Teaching Assistant, Cover Supervisor, or classroom support, depending on the school and experience. You will be paid while gaining valuable experience.

Thinking about becoming a teacher but want to get some real experience in a school first?

If you’re a graduate considering a career in education, this could be a great way to get your foot in the door.

We’re working with schools across Manchester and the surrounding areas to offer graduates the opportunity to gain genuine classroom experience before progressing into formal teacher training.

Starting in November, you’ll join a school on a full-time basis, working alongside experienced teachers and getting a proper insight into what life in education is really like.

Your role could involve working as a Teaching Assistant, Cover Supervisor or classroom support, depending on the school and your experience.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

• Support pupils in the classroom and help them stay engaged with their learning
• Work alongside experienced teachers and education staff
• Build your confidence working with young people
• Gain experience across different year groups and abilities
• Learn about behaviour management and effective classroom support
• Get a better understanding of lesson planning, assessment and day-to-day school life
• Take part in wider school activities and become part of the school community

The aim is simple — give you real experience before you take the next step into teacher training.

We’re particularly interested in graduates who are enthusiastic about education and working with young people. Previous experience such as tutoring, mentoring, coaching, volunteering, youth work or working with children would be beneficial, but it isn’t essential.

What we’re really looking for is someone who is reliable, confident, approachable and genuinely interested in helping young people succeed.

This isn’t just work experience. You’ll be paid while gaining valuable experience in a school and developing skills that will help you progress towards a career in teaching.

You’ll also receive ongoing support throughout your placement, giving you the opportunity to learn from experienced education professionals and build your confidence in the classroom.

The experience can provide an excellent foundation before moving into a salaried teacher training route or PGCE.
