GSL Education are welcoming applications for the role of Graduate Teaching Assistant (Secondary) to work across secondary schools in Ashington, starting September 2025. This position offers flexible opportunities on a daily supply or long-term basis, with a competitive daily rate of £84 - £110, depending on experience.

As a Graduate TA, you’ll support teachers in delivering engaging lessons, assist with classroom management, and work closely with students to provide academic and emotional support. This is an ideal opportunity for aspiring teachers, educational psychologists, or youth workers to gain practical, hands-on experience in a dynamic secondary school environment.

You’ll contribute to student progress by offering 1:1 support, small group interventions, and helping to create a positive, inclusive learning space. Whether supporting core subjects or specific student needs, your role will be integral to their success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the delivery of engaging and inclusive lessons across the curriculum.
  • Provide one-to-one or group support to students, especially those with additional learning needs.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and contribute to a focused learning environment.
  • Support students' social and emotional development by building positive relationships.
  • Contribute to the assessment and tracking of student progress under teacher guidance.

Requirements:

  • A university degree in any discipline, with a strong academic background.
  • A genuine interest in working within the education sector, particularly with Secondary students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, staff and parents.
  • The ability to inspire and motivate young adults while demonstrating patience and empathy.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
