GSL Education are inviting applications for the role of a Graduate Teaching Assistant (Primary) to work within vibrant and inclusive primary schools in Gateshead. This role offers an excellent opportunity for recent graduates to gain valuable classroom experience, develop their confidence, and support children at a crucial stage of their learning journey.

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support class teachers in delivering engaging lessons, assist with small group work and interventions, and help create a nurturing and inclusive environment for all pupils. This role is ideal for graduates considering a career in teaching, educational psychology, or child development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with their learning, both one-to-one and in small groups.
  • Assist with lesson preparation and classroom organisation.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and promote emotional wellbeing.
  • Contribute to the assessment and progress tracking of students.
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and SEND specialists when needed.

Job Requirements:

  • A degree in any discipline (Education or related fields preferred).
  • A strong interest in pursuing a career in education or working with children.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of individual students and support their learning journey.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
